dc.description.abstractGonçalo Fernandes Trancoso, autor del primer libro de cuentos publicado en la literatura portuguesa en 1575, ha sido recordado por abordar en sus historias elementos sobrenaturales de magia, hechicería y milagro, lo que le ha rendido, por parte de la censura inquisitorial, la prohibición de tres cuentos en la segunda edición de su recopilación (1585). Este artículo, partiendo del análisis de las cinco historias en que aparecen elementos sobrenaturales, intenta enseñar que, diferentemente de los magos humanistas, legitimadores de las artes mágicas naturales, Trancoso refleja la mentalidad ortodoxa medieval, sosteniendo el milagro como manifestación única del maravilloso y condenando las prácticas mágicas como herejías.es_ES
dc.description.abstractGonçalo Fernandes Trancoso, author of the first book of short-stories published in the Portuguese literature in 1575, has been remembered for approaching in his stories supernatural elements of magic, witchcraft and miracle, what led the Inquisition to suppress at least three tales in the second edition (1585) of his collection. This paper, considering the analysis of the five stories in which the supernatural is evident, aims to show that, differently from the humanist magi- cians, who legitimatized the natural magic arts, Trancoso still reflects the medieval orthodox mentality, by sustaining the miracle as the only manifestation of wonder and by condemning the magical practices as heresies.
