The modern pedagogies put the student at the center of teaching-learning process, leaving the teacher in a secondary and less important place. Thomas Aquinas’s doctrine, in the thirteenth century, manages to reconcile the importance of teaching with the principality of the student action, through, inter alia, to the instrumental causality of the teacher. This has been revealed by several authors. However, in this paper we study if the teacher really is “instrumental cause” of science on the student, and if Thomas Aquinas actually says that.
