Gabriela Mistral University Repository

The Gabriela Mistral University Library has developed the following Academic Repository in order to preserve, disseminate and make available the full-text contents of the academic production developed by the different actors in the academic and research field of the University.
The UGM University at the beginning of the year 2017 incorporated the UCINF University, also adding that collection where we find memories, theses, degree works, academic magazines, speeches, books, digital and sound files. Contact: repositorio@ugm.cl

This article summarizes the results of a study whose objective was to determine whether there are significant differences amongthe execution of incline bench press (IBP), decline bench press (DBP) and flat bench press (FBP), between the clavicular and sternal portions of the pectoralis major muscle, in relation to the electromyographic activation that could be registered with these exercises. The study was conducted with a group of 10 Physical Education students. The main results obtained indicate that there are no significant differences in FBP in comparison to IBP for both portions. On the contrary, statistically significant differences were found in FBP when compared to DBP, since it produced a greater EMG activation during the movement for both sternal and clavicular portions of the pectoralis major.
