Given SIMCE is deemed to be prestigious, it is critical to know the social representations teachers have about this test since they make decisions and manage the curriculum in the classroom from those representations. The analysis carried out shows that the implicit imperative to obtain good results in this test causes the educational system to see teachers as officials in charge of implementing a curriculum that tends to be, intentionally or not, homogenizing and that deviates them from what they think is their professional role. Social pressure generated by this situation along with an environment not suitable for the achievement of good results produces high levels of emotional distress, dissatisfaction and feeling of failure in the teachers under study.
