La idea central de esta discusión es hacer presente su papel como fuente para las investigaciones históricas, considerando la tendencia que existe hasta hoy de privilegiar lo escrito por sobre lo visual. Ese valor de las imágenes fotográficas se concreta en la propuesta de que responderían más a los atributos que sus propios productores y los espectadores esperan de ellas, antes que a su historicidad misma.; This article addresses photography and its documental aspect. The core of this discussion is to highlight the importance of photographs as a source for historical research in times when the written document is preferred instead of the visual one. So. the value of photographic images may lie in the attributes the photographers and the audience expect to find in them, rather than in their historicity.

Las temáticas que se abordan son un balance general de su obra, el modo en que entiende el concepto de cultura, con las impIicancias de su operacionalización, la problemática educativa su significatividad, y centralmente, algunas de sus ideas respecto a interculturalidad y educación intercultural. En las conclusiones se presenta una síntesis. intentando explicitar las articulaciones entre los conceptos clave, con sus implicancias para la educación superior.; This article addresses some aspects of the academic work done by Juan Ansión. The topics discussed in this article represent a general overview of his work, the way he understands the concept of culture and the implications of its operationalization and educational problems and their significance.
